Stay safe on your babymoon by following these tips.

1. Travel during your second trimester: Avoid morning sickness and fatigue in your first trimester and stave off risk during the third by traveling during your second trimester.


2. Be vigilant about getting sick: Pregnant women are partially immuno-suppressed, so it’s important that you’re careful not to pick something up on your travels.


3. Bring a copy of your pregnancy records: In case you end up needing medical care while traveling, you’ll want to have your medical records handy.


4. Pay attention to pressure: If you’ll be flying in a smaller aircraft, ask if the cabin will be pressurized. Otherwise, your baby may be at risk of not receiving enough oxygen.


5. Use a safe pest repellant: Use DEET according to manufacturer guidelines only and be aware of chemicals that could harm you and your baby.

General Parenting Tips

No matter how young or old your children are, be sure to include these suggestions in your parenting routine.

1. Pray. Thank God for your blessings in your family every day. Not only is prayer itself important, but allowing your children to see you pray will encourage the same in them.


2. Share meal time. Eating together at the table and away from the TV not only shows that each member of the family is valuable, but that family time holds a place of importance.


3. Respect others. Teach your children to respect others and to respect authority by example.


4. Teach compassion. Just as Jesus did in His teachings, teach your children to care about and respect the feelings of others.


5. Teach right and wrong. Make sure your child knows the difference between right and wrong from an early age and reinforce this lesson by living the same way yourself.


6. Work ethic. Instill a strong work ethic from an early age. Have young children help with chores around the house and have older children take on more responsibility both in the household and in the community as they mature.


7. Use discipline. Discipline is setting boundaries, letting your child know those boundaries, and setting consequences when the boundaries are broken. Discipline does not necessarily mean physical punishment as there are other ways of enforcing the rules also.


8. Love unconditionally. Let your children know that you love them no matter what they do. Love your children as God loves his children.


9. Say you are sorry. Teach your child forgiveness by telling them you are sorry when you make a mistake.


10. Be a good role model. Your children look to you for guidance even when you don’t know they are looking. Always do your best to be the person you want your children to be.

Tips for Babies and Toddlers

It’s never too early to start teaching your children the fundamentals of Christianity. These tips will help you know what to do.

11. Say prayers. Start praying with your child while your baby is tiny and you will establish a habit. Once your baby gets a little older, she will not even remember not ever sharing this special time.


12. Read Bible stories. Choose an age-appropriate Bible for your child and share Bible stories during family time or reading time.


13. Sing Christian songs. There are so many wonderful Christian songs for small children. If music is not your gift, borrow or buy a CD with Christian songs.


14. Be patient. Remember that your child is not a small adult but a new being with special gifts and challenges making his way through an adult world.


15. Listen. If your children learn the importance of listening from you, they will become good listeners themselves and better able to help others as adults.


16. Have a parent stay at home. If at all possible, have either mom or dad stay home with your child while they are young. There is no substitute for the values you want to impress than those you teach yourself.


17. Have a support network. Parenting is a difficult job. Be sure you have a support network in place so you don’t feel so alone.


18. Give yourself some breaks. Being a good parent doesn’t mean you never have time away. Find ways to get breaks from parenting so you can be a stronger parent.


19. Mother’s Day Out. If your church doesn’t have a MDO program, find a church with your similar beliefs that does. Typically, these programs provide a few hours a week for preschool children to play and enjoy fellowship in a Christian setting while Mom gets a chance to run errands or catch her breath.

Attending Church as a Family

Don’t keep your faith a secret. Be sure to incorporate going to church as a family affair.
